Wilfred Curtis began his aviation career as a successful fighter pilot in WWI, during which he shot down more than 13 enemy aircraft. In WWII he served with distinction as his rank and responsibility rose and he selected airfields in Canada for the BCATP in 1939. In 1947, he served as Chief of the Air Staff where he reorganized the RCAF after the war, guided the RCAF through the expansion of our participation in the Korean War and recommended policy for Canada's role in NATO.
