Building systems technician
Classification: GL-MAM-08
Hourly wage: $26.80 to $29.13
Description: As a building systems technician, you will be responsible for the provision of essential services, scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment associated with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, water and plumbing within the National Capital Region. This position requires completion of a post-secondary education program in building systems technology or in a field related to the position from a recognized college or technical institute.
Carpenter
Classification: GL-WOW-09
Hourly wage: $28.22 to $30.68
Description: As a carpenter, you will perform a variety of skilled carpentry work on buildings and structures (maintenance and repair), fabricate and finish cabinetry work, and restore heritage and antique furnishings. In addition, you will install flags as well as barricades for state visits and ceremonial events. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial general carpenter licence or certificate of qualification.
Electrician
Classification: GL-EIM-10
Hourly wage: $31.48 to $34.20
Description: As an electrician, you will be responsible for laying out, assembling, installing and maintaining electric wiring, lighting fixtures, low-power switching and control equipment, as well as installing self-contained electrical devices (such as air conditioners and refrigeration units) in buildings. You will also be responsible for installing and adjusting switchboards, time clocks, and other low-tension systems, in addition to carrying out major maintenance, alterations and improvements to electrical wiring systems. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial electrical licence or certificate of qualification.
Fleet coordinator
Classification: AS-02
Annual salary: $57,430 to $61,877
Description: As the fleet coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and managing a fleet of motorized vehicles, as well as operating and maintaining heavy equipment such as forklifts, hydraulic cranes, aerial trucks and backhoes. You will also be responsible for maintaining proper licensing, emissions testing and inspecting all motorized vehicles, as well as supervising a heavy equipment operator. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Foreman, Carpenter
Classification: GL-WOW-10
Hourly wage: $29.34 to $31.88
Description: As the carpentry foreman, you will be responsible for operating a carpentry workshop for the design, fabrication and restoration/finishing of heritage or antique furnishings. You will also establish priorities, work methods and scheduling, coordinate activities with other trades foremen, property managers and clients, as well as supervise and assign work to the carpenters. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial general carpenter licence or certificate of qualification.
Foreman, Electrical

Description: As the electrical foreman, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of a group of electricians engaged in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems. You are also responsible for providing estimates for minor service calls, preventive maintenance and corrective work. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial electrical licence or certificate of qualification.
Foreman, Heritage stone masonry
Classification: GL-PCF-10 (C3)
Hourly wage: $31.41 to $34.15
Description: As the foreman for heritage stone masonry, you will be responsible for supervising, training and coordinating groups of employees engaged in the construction, maintenance, repair, renovation, restoration, conservation and refurbishing of a variety of stone structures and components. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial bricklayer licence or an international heritage stonemason certificate of qualification.
Foreman, Traffic sign writer
Classification: GL-PCF-08 C2
Hourly wage: $29.06 to $31.58
Description: As the traffic sign writer foreman, you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the activities for production and installation of traffic and building signage for direction of citizens in the National Capital Region. You will also be responsible for the coordination of activities for installing barricades and official flags of Canada, the provinces and territories and other international countries on ceremonial routes and Parliament Hill, as well as supervising and assigning work to the traffic sign writers. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Head, Electrical
Classification: GL-EIM-13 D4
Hourly wage: $34.95 to $37.99
Description: As the head of the electrical section, you will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the daily operations of the electrical shop for maintenance and repair projects. You will also be responsible for maintaining a preventive maintenance support program for electrical equipment and systems, as well as supervising and assigning work to the foreman and electricians. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial electrical certificate of qualification.
Heavy equipment operator
Classification: GL-MDO-06
Hourly wage: $23.46 to $25.48
Description: As a heavy equipment operator, you will be responsible for operating specialized heavy motorized equipment, such as hydraulic cranes and hoists, hydraulic tail gates, dump trucks, hydraulic aerial trucks, front-end loaders and backhoes for digging, cutting, clearing, moving, spreading grading, leveling and compacting earth, sand, gravel, stone and other materials. A valid provincial operators’ licence (Ontario Class “A” or Quebec Class 21) is required.
Heritage stone mason
Classification: GL-PCF-09
Hourly wage: $30.22 to $32.85
Description: As a heritage stone mason, you will be responsible for conserving, restoring and repairing interior and exterior stonework of government buildings in the National Capital Region, particularly those that are of significant historical and architectural importance. A valid provincial or interprovincial bricklayer licence or an international heritage stone mason certificate of qualification is required for this position.
Horticultural technician
Classification: GT-04
Annual salary: $62,556 to $71,124
Description: As a horticultural technician, you will be responsible for developing and managing various contracts for interior and exterior landscape projects (plants/trees/grass, removal of snow/ice/debris) as well as providing expert advice on living perishable assets (plants). You will also be responsible for managing contracts and monitoring services provided by contractors. You will need to know the applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations. This position requires a 2-year college diploma in horticulture.
Junior maintenance management specialist (Mechanical)
Classification: EG-04
Annual salary: $59,842 to $72,804
Description: As the junior maintenance management specialist, you will support the senior maintenance management specialist. You will develop and manage small to medium contracts for maintenance and building mechanical systems (estimates, documentation, verification of work, site inspections). You will also provide expertise, support to clients and develop recommendations on building automation and control systems. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Lead hand, Heritage stone masonry
Classification: GL-PCF-09 B2
Hourly wage: $30.22 to $32.85
Description: As the lead hand for heritage stone masonry, you will be responsible for conserving, restoring and repairing interior and exterior stonework of government buildings in the National Capital Region. You will also be responsible for carrying out investigative and experimental programs to assist in developing standards and techniques for masonry restoration. Maintenance services officer

Annual salary: $55,520 to $62,955
Description: As a maintenance services officer, you will be responsible for developing and managing various building services contracts (cleaning, pests, waste/recycling), as well as providing expert advice. You will also be responsible for managing contracts and monitoring services provided, and will need to know the applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Plumber
Classification: GL-PIP-09
Hourly wage: $29.68 to $32.27
Description: As a plumber, you will be responsible for performing a variety of plumbing repairs, maintenance and project support tasks, including assembling and installing plumbing equipment in assets comprised of office buildings, heritage assets, special purpose buildings and recently rehabilitated, highly innovated buildings. You will also be responsible for making educated observations on the plumbing systems in a proactive manner and reporting back any issues, deficiencies or concerns. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as a valid provincial or interprovincial plumbing licence or certificate of qualification.
Senior maintenance management specialist (Vertical)
Classification: EG-06
Annual salary: $72,406 to $88,091
Description: As the senior maintenance management specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing contracts for the maintenance and operation of elevators. You will also provide expert advice and support to clients and develop recommendations on this subject matter. This position includes financial responsibilities and employee management. You will have responsibilities in regard to the health and safety of your projects. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, as well as an Elevating Device Mechanics certificate of qualification from Ontario or an equivalency recognized by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority.
Traffic sign writer
Classification: GL-PCF-07
Hourly wage: $27.88 to $30.32
Description: As a traffic sign writer, you will be responsible for making and installing traffic control, parking and associated signs by laying out and stenciling letters, figures and designs on metal, wood and plastic surfaces. You will also be responsible for planning and laying out exterior and indoor parking surfaces relative to the installation of parking and traffic flow signs and lines. On occasion, you will install flags as well as barricades for state visits. This position requires a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
