The National Library, in cooperation with Quarry Press, has published an anthology of 26 essays by some of Canada's finest creators and scholars of science fiction and fantasy. The foreword is by Judith Merril, and the contributions include "Four Hundred Years of Fantastic Literature in Canada" by John Robert Colombo, "The Northern Cosmos" by Robert Runté and Christine Kulyk, "Science Fiction in Francophone Canada (1839-1989)" by Jean-Louis Trudel, "Science Fiction and Fantasy for the Young: An Overview of the Planet" by Daniel Sernine, "Considering Magic Realism in Canada" by Charles de Lint, "My Canada Includes Magic" by Ven Begamudré, "Canadian Urban Horror: It's Not Just Trees and Tundra Anymore" by Tanya Huff, "Writing Women's Stories in a Male Universe: Reflections on Women and Science Fiction" by Francine Pelletier, "The Alien at the Feast: The Publishers of and the Audience for Fantastic Literature in Canada" by Phyllis Gotlieb, "Peeking Up the Skirts of the End: Speculative Content in Canadian Pop Music" by Michael Skeet, and "They Promised Me a Future" by Larry Hancock and Michael Cherkas.
