Judaic Art in Context

The collections of liturgical objects held by various religious organizations in Canada represents one of, if not the, strongest segments of art within the country. The influence of these objects on the daily lives of Canadians has been documented by several historians yet present generations of Canadians have limited access to viewing these artistic creations. The intention of the Art in Context project was to digitize examples of Judaic art objects from the Aron Museum, located within one of the oldest synagogues in Canada, the Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom, in Montreal, Quebec. Tips on how to best use this site (complete with an audio-visual tour) are included as part of the Project Overiew.
