Phasmatodea
Stick insects

Feeding Habits: Stick insects are phtyophagous.

Description: Stick insects are 3 to 30 cm long and twig-like or leaf-like in appearance. The wings are often greatly reduced or absent. The front wings, when present, are short and hardened. The antennae are usually long and narrow. The legs are long and not modified for jumping or running. Stick insects have chewing mouthparts.

Comments: Stick insects are mainly found in trees, but a few species live on the ground or in grasses and herbaceous plants. These insects are very well camouflaged to blend in with their habitat. This order includes some of the world's longest insects, in the tropics they can reach 30 cm. Some species change colour as they molt and mature; others can change colour, like chameleons, without molting.
