Re: Fallen Comrades Honoured

I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those who attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Mount McKay cenotaph. A special thank you to Roy Barnes Sir., the Colour Guard of the Lake Superior Regiment and Mike Morrison, for their time and efforts in making it such a memorable event. It was an honour to have the presence of Gordon Legarde from Grand Portage Reserve to represent and lower the American flag, and representing the Canadian Peace Keepers was Michael Orwick to lower the Canadian Flag, World War II veteran Martin Ward lowered the Native flag.

A special thank you to Rev. Bill Maurice for leading the prayers and offering his words of wisdom. To my nephew Gordon Bannon, I appreciate all that you did in preparing for the ceremony and ensuring the route up the mountain was safe for all in attendance. I thank Gary Orwick, Chief Warrant Officer, for his leadership in the lowering and raising of the flags. All those in attendance were fortunate and are grateful to Mel Hardy and Henry McGuire for their preparation of a wonderful luncheon served at the Fort William First Nation Community Hall. It was with sadness that I could not be in attendance to witness and enjoy the dedication and efforts of all that helped. A special thank you to my daughter Cathy, who filled in for me, on such short notice, and did such a wonderful job as Master of Ceremony. Again, Thank you.

Sincerely,

Frank Banning
