" Welcome to Point Ellice House, the O'Reilly family home. You're very lucky to be starting work in such a fine house. This is the servant's entrance... Unless Mr. or Mrs. O'Reilly say otherwise, you must enter the house only through this room.

Now, wipe your feet and stand over by the sink.

A great part of your day will be spent here washing dishes, peeling potatoes, and cleaning linen. Keep it spotless. We demand everything be clean at all times. Above the sink to the left is the drying rack for dishes.

Behind you in the corner is a little wood stove. Take a look. The O'Reilly's treat servants very well. This stove gives you enough heat in winter to do your chores in any weather.

As I show you the rooms today, pay attention to the stoves and fireplaces. It's your duty to make sure every fire in the house has a good supply of coal or wood and is well stoked.

To the left of the stove is your day room. It's tiny but you'll be thankful to have a room inside the house.

Next to the door, I've collected the dirty linen. After your tour today you'll start work by washing, drying and pressing these.

Plenty more of the house to see before O'Reilly's get home. Come along now into the kitchen.
