Archival Materials of the United Steelworkers of America - Canada

The Steelworkers' union has made a special effort to preserve historically significant material produced by our organization. These files include a variety of materials such as research briefs, policy conference proceedings, collective agreements and staff correspondence. These documents form an essential part of the history of our country's labour movement and indeed of Canadian society. Over the past twenty years these files have been transferred to the National Archives of Canada to be maintained for researchers now and in the future.

This web page includes a finding aid for the latest selection of materials deposited at the National Archives by the union. The finding aid is a description of all the files, listed in the order in which they were kept at the Steelworkers' office. This description generally includes a brief title for the files, the time period they cover, and often the relevant local union number and location. We are confident that this electonically formatted finding aid will provide easier access to a wealth of unique documents.
