Dorothy Deschamps has been working as a ceramic artist for over 20 years.
After finishing her collegial studies in Visual Arts and Community Recreational Leadership, she began a three-year studio apprenticeship in Brazil, working with local potters and firing at brick factories. Working alongside a cottage industry and influenced by Brazilian arts and crafts, pre-Colombian and African art she developed her own style of which her contemporaries sometimes refer to as: "organic abstraction".
Credited with several solo and group shows here and abroad as well as recipient of study and travel grants, she has worked in Brazil, Japan and Europe. She maintains an active studio production in Montreal.
