Kerry, a tree planter, by Lorraine Gilbert, 1988

Lorraine Gilbert (b. 1955) graduated in environmental biology from McGill University and studied forestry at the University of British Columbia. While working as a tree planter she used her large-format camera to document the effect of logging on the landscape and to make portraits of her fellow tree-planters. She took Kerry's portrait in her portable studio at Princeton, British Columbia. Gilbert continues to record our forestry practices.
