FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS
Camilla Gryski
Volume 20 Number 6
Scissors, a safety pin, and embroidery thread are all you need to make one of Camilla Gryski's colourful knotted friendship bracelets. That, and a copy of her book, Friendship Bracelets, will get you started. Friendship Bracelets is a how-to book. The bracelets are made by knotting threads around each other. Learn one basic knot, and you're on your way. Friendship Bracelets begins with directions for a simple bracelet and works through to more complex patterns. With some experience, you'll soon be creating your own variations. The directions are easy to follow and each of the numbered instructions is supplemented by colour diagrams. As well, there is a colour photograph of what your bracelet should look like. Friendship Bracelets gives detailed instructions for eight bracelets, as well as variations on those eight. There is a section that explains how to add beads to your bracelets, and another that encourages you to use your new skills for creations other than bracelets. There is a table of contents. Younger children will need an adult's help to read and understand the directions. But they will catch on quickly and be producing bracelets for all their friends.
