It is packed full of information about solar, wind, chemical, sound, heat and electrical energy and the energy of motion. A large selection of hands-on experiments provides ways to explore the causes and effects of energy. The pages are eye-catching because of the mixture of cartoonlike illustrations and actual photographs of practical applications. Little boxes of data presented as the "Focus File" explain the scientific principles used in the experiments. The language used is descriptive without being too technical or intimidating. One readily understands why hot air balloons rise, which conductors of electricity are effective, and design strategies for wind tunnels. The table of contents and index are appropriately arranged for children of all ages. I foresee this publication being used at home and at school for interest or for projects. Teachers of the Primary and Junior grades will find it a welcome resource for their science programs and energy studies. This book is highly recommended.
