Jerzy Harasymowicz, one of the leading poets of Poland, was born in 1933 and has lived for many years in the southern city of Cracow. Author of many books of poetry, he is noted for the unique personal mythology and spontaneous fantasy of his works which draw upon the medieval and baroque culture of the Cracow region. Genealogy of Instruments, one of the poet's early collections, was published in English translation in 1974.
