Self-taught sculptor Brian Clark realizes work inspired by nature in stone, wood, and metal, as well as traditional drawing and painting media. Trained originally as an electrical technician at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, owners of his work include HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, k.d.lang, David Suzuki, and international collectors. He has completed major commissions for the Calgary Flames (Stanley Cup Championship commemoration), and, with assistance from the First Nations Fort Mackay Band, seven life-size Bison for Syncrude Canada each weighing in excess of 35 tonnes with an average height of 4 meters. Made from Siltstone drawn from the local minesite, a highway divides the sculptures. An award-winning video, A Shared Vision hosted by Tom Jackson was made for Syncrude by Videotron of Calgary.
