If you were born at that time you would have been taken along on
many journeys.
But at that particular time, one needed to be clothed properly for them
to go along on trips. But now there are not too many people going along
on trips because there is no longer any warm clothing for them to wear,
that is the main reason why they no longer go on hunting trips. ......The
main obstacle for a young person to go along on hunting trips....is that
they are not fitted with warm caribou clothing.
The only reason why we used to be able to go on trips, that is the entire
family, was that we all had caribou clothing to wear. That would include
ATIGI - inner wear, and QULITTAQ - outer wear, all of us would be wearing
those, no imported fabric was worn.
Now, everyone uses them (fabric clothing). As a matter of fact in my childhood,
when we had moved into tents, I would be wearing caribou clothing. I used
to be so envious of the ones who were wearing imported fabric.
As for myself, when we had moved into tents I would still be wearing caribou
clothing. So I used to like the ones that were wearing imported fabric.
I would have caribou clothing including pants. As it turned out they were
nice and warm.
