CHEYNE'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Perhaps no story of Albion would be complete without mention of Cheyne's Presbyterian Church, which ministered so valiantly to the spiritual needs of the settlers. The Rev. George Cheyne, M.A., a Scotsman from Aberdeen, founded the church about 1840 and ministered to the congregation for 30 years. The church was on Mud Street, one mile east of the village. In the worship service, no musical instruments were allowed. Tuning forks were used to start the singing. The congregation built a new church in Stoney Creek in 1918, when the original building was sold and moved to Hannon, where it was long in use as a public hall.
