Archaeological site at Verran residence.

On May 22nd, 1972 all the members of the Jersey Side/Placentia Archaelogical Committee met at the property of Mr. Randell Verran in Placentia. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the team members with methods of graphically recording the location of artifacts and levels of stratification.

A trench (60ft by 2.5ft, and 3ft to 4ft deep) had been dug by Mr. Verran for the purpose of putting in a new waterline to his house. During his digging he found many fragmentary artifacts similar to those that were found by the committee members(pipe stems, nails, ect). He also found an English hewing axe, which was the only complete artifact located on the site.
