Tools of the Trade



Fishing Tools. The dip net was used for catching caplin for use as bait. In the center row (left to right) are two hand gaffs for hoisting heavy fish into a boat; an empty line reel; and below it, two sticks for gauging the size of net meshes; a jigger attached to a reel, used when there was no bait; and a handline with a lead weight and two hooks used a bait.
