Peter Evans (Captain Canada 1)

Peter Evans was born in Shawinigan, Quebec and was educated at Mount Allison University. Evans was the main writer for the counterculture humour magazine Fuddle Duddle, which was published in Ottawa from 1971 to 1972.
In 1972 Evans and the artist Stanley Berneche (the pair had originally met while at university) co-created the satirical national superhero Captain Canada, who made his debut in Fuddle Duddle (No. 3). A second Captain Canada adventure appeared in issue No. 4. Captain Canada's immortal battle cry – "Beavers Up!" – was later printed in John Robert Colombo's first book of Canadian quotations. Peter Evans's involvement with comics ended with the demise of Fuddle Duddle in 1972.
