COACH HOUSE PRESS POST CARD COMPANY
The post card is one of the most ubiquitous printed forms in our culture; it functions as a
medium of communication and serves as a record of places visited and seen -- an inexpensive souvenir. At The Coach House Press, post cards served several functions. They were used as promotional devices to advertise books and periodicals published at the Press. In other instances, Coach House post cards were dedicated to preserving photographic images of local landmarks, as seen in the Scenic Views of Toronto Series.
The Coach House Press post cards also served as an experimental medium, especially in the
development of photographic effects. Often the results are remarkable, the post card is elevated to an art form combining Dadaists and pop art elements.
