Creating a Children's Book

Student Worksheet 10: Preparing the Book Launch

The last step in creating and publishing a book is promotion. You need to promote your book so that people will be interested in it -- and want to buy it. This is a very important step.

Use the book reviews for your book. Read what was written about your book. Did you learn anything?

  • Take two or three good things that were written about your book and copy them on a piece of paper.
  • Make sure to copy them exactly (except to edit the spelling mistakes and punctuation).
  • Put the name of the person who wrote them at the bottom.

You will use these quotes to help sell your book. Publishers often do this. Can you think of different advertisements that also use quotes?

Now you will need to design a poster to promote your book. On the poster you must have:

  • Title of your book
  • Names of author(s) and illustrator(s)
  • Quotes from the book reviews
  • Examples of your illustrations

Use your imagination to think of other things to put on your poster.
