The Government of Canada is raising the age of eligibility for Old Age Security (OAS) and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from 65-67. If you are 54 and older on March 31, 2012, you will not be affected. If you are younger than 54 on April 1, 2012, your age of eligibility for OAS/GIS will gradually change between 2023 and 2029. Starting in July 2013, Canadians eligible for the OAS will have the flexibility to delat receiving it in exchange for a higher monthly amount at a later date”.
