Text Alternative for Graphic: Making Old Age Security Sustainable – Half Page Concept

The concept is a half page advertisement that shows a street sign with the heading, “Making Old Age Security Sustainable”. The text says, “Canadians are living longer and costs for the Old Age Security (OAS) are rising. To ensure sustainability, on April 1, 2023 the Government of Canada is planning to raise the age of eligibility for OAS and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from 65-67. The next heading states, “what does this mean for you?” and shows a chart with three rows and two columns. The first row explains that, “if you are 64 and older on March 31, 2012 you will not be affected”. The second row says, “if you are younger than 54 on April 1, 2012 your age of eligibility for OAS/GIS will gradually change between 2023 and 2029. The third row says, “a more flexible OAS program. Starting in July 2013, Canadians eligible for the OAS will have the flexibility to delay receiving it in exchance for a higher monthly amount at a later date”. The ad shows a graph showing that the number of working-age Canadians for every senior is decreasing. Beneath the bar graph the ad says, “for a free brochure or more information, visit: www.ServiceCanada.gc.ca/retirement or call 1 800 O-Canada (TTY 1-800-926-9105)”. The bottom of the ad shows the Government of Canada wordmark.
