A poignant story recorded as Anna relives murders, kidnappings and starvation in the Russia of the twenties and thirties. She describes the uprooting of her religious group, shares the heartbreak of deceit and abuse and relates the escape to west Germany and life in the blanket rooms as the family awaits emigration. She tells of finally finding safety in Canada and how she supported a daughter and a mother while she had no specific training and was unable to speak or read English. Anna gives new meaning to strength and ability to survive. She provided what pictures she could of her life.
