Larry O. Gay is a professional freelance photographer and currently residing in Bessemer, AL. His background in nature has enabled him to focus on the intrinsic structures and patterns in the natural world. Combined with a long-existing interest in art and photography, particularly natural scenes mostly unimpacted by human activities, he has set forth to capture the natural formations from an aesthetic point of view. Recently, he has also applied this focus on the urban setting, with emphasis on capturing common images from different perspectives. He is currently photographing architecture in the surrounding area and hopefully to show his work at galleries and in publications.

Aspirations

What drives his pursuit in photography has been the ability to travel, explore, and document things we see daily and present it in a different way. His future goal focuses on combining fine art, nature/architecture photography and nature publications with the premise of furthering our understanding and appreciation of our world. He is currently working on his web sites to show some of the beauty that God provided.

Education

Double major in Commercial Art and Photography from Bessemer Technical College in Bessemer, AL. (Instructor: Ms Judy Johnson), and quite a bit of reading by other photographers such as Ansel Adams, the late Galen Rowell, Gordon Parks, Eudora Weltey and several others.

About his website

He began the formatting of his website in August of 2002 after photographing numerous images of flowers and close up shots of flowers. He is still in the learning process of developing his web sites; as you can see, it is very basic and what you see is what you get. IHe currently has four sites and if images are what you like, there are plenty to be seen.

His web addresses are listed below.

"Images From Birmingham Botanical Gardens"

"Abstracts of Nature"

"Architecture in Birmingham, AL"

"Birmingham, AL"
