Fragile Past
As whiskers grow
wisdom
sage like
to shoulder the world.
The tired lumping
mess
lingers long
in winter’s grasp.
The greedy hand
of pockets
grown threadbare
with waste.
A tired stitch
of humanity
pulled loose
in wandering.
Turn a collar
to the wind.
Welcome the new
rain.
Wash away
the scent
and leavings
of our
fragile past.
