Have You Given Up On Your Dreams?
Have you given up on your dreams? Would you like to get them back?
Many of us gave up on our dreams. Often our dreams slipped away without our even realizing it. We got bogged down with the day-to-day responsibilities of being a wife, husband, parent, full-time worker, etc. We knew that we were busy, but we promised ourselves that we would get back to pursuing our dreams some day. We really would.
The attacks of September 11th have showed us that some day does not always happen. Now, more than ever, is it important to follow our hearts and follow our dreams. We see that life is precious. We see how essential it is to live lives we love.
So What Do You Do When You Have Given Up On Your Dreams?
1. Remember That You Are Worthy Of Your Dreams:
You deserve to live your dreams. Recognizing this is the hardest and most necessary step. Most of us think that only other people get to live their dreams. Only other people are lucky enough, not us. We do not deserve to because of all the bad stuff we have done in our lives. The only thing these thoughts do is keep you from moving forward and being happy.
2. Remember That Your Dreams Are Important:
Once you know how important living your dreams is to your health and mental well being, then you can bring your dreams back into your life. The only way to live your dreams is to make them a priority. Withoutthis focus, they cannot become a reality.
3. Remember That You Forgot Them:
Start by taking out a piece of paper and writing down your dreams. Remember what they were, and how excited you used to be when you thought about them. It might be difficult at first, but once you get started, you dreams will come back to you.
4. Remember To Push Past Fear:
Every time you move past the normal emotion of fear you make yourself stronger for the next obstacle. So next time you feel fearful, gather up your courage and move past it, like a warrior in the battle field. Everyone feels fear, it’s what you do when you are afraid that matters.
5. Remember That You Cannot Live Your Dreams Alone:
Part of living your dreams is having someone to share them with. Do you ask for help, or do you handle everything on your own? I bet there are people who want to contribute and help you along the way but you will not let them in. Ask for support and let them in. It’s OK to ask for help.
6. Remember That Action Is What Propels You Forward:
Your life is moving forward whether you are working towards your dreams or not. So, wouldn’t it be better to take one action each day that will get you closer? It could be as simple as making a phone call, sending an e-mail, or doing some research on the Internet. Dreams are attained in little steps. Why not take some of those steps to move yourself forward today?
7. Remember Not To Give Up:
Perseverance always wins out in the end. You can not get to the finish line unless you play the game. Hanging tough through the difficult times is what gets you to the goal. So, do not give up!
There will always be outside reasons why we can not have what we want in our lives. It is up to you to find reasons why you can. Good luck!
