A Senior Moment

Nonchalance is a form of studied indifference.
The sneak attack on the beach
Left a hundred tunas
In a sack.
I don't want to care because emotion
Sticks to the sand and
Interferes with the waves.

I came after you like a cigarette boat.
It was a kind of proud speed.
The dislocation of the waves
Is poignant
If you are a painter.
Now I don't know the difference
Between a canvas
And a moon.

Shine on, interpret me with your bluster
Of color.
I am prism.
I am schism.
But not a church though I am wisdom
In the bells of my old age.
