Bug Dinners
Bugs might taste delicious and be much more nutritious
than many foods we buy in stores.
Gardeners when they lunch are quite sure to munch
on vagrant bugs who thrive outdoors.
On hooks, we spear worms, utilizing their squirms
to convince fish to leave their lake.
Which one tastes the best, we might want to test.
maybe it's worms we should bake.
Botany insiders claim unsightly spiders
make good pets and bug eating friends.
We feel so icky touching webs sticky
and here, all bug tolerance ends.
BEHIND THESE LINES:
As a sometimes motorcyclist, I have unwittingly tasted a vast array
of bugs. You do not taste those that are immediately swallowed, but those that stick
in your teeth, often get crunched and savored. After the fact, you don't know which bug it was,
but they are surprisingly tasty, often sweet. I assume bugs are mostly protein as they sure can't
have much body fat.
I suppose that I have eaten things less healthy and palatable, but usually
it was without my knowledge or design.
Snails were a delicious treat, sauteed in butter and garlic, but that is not a
fair indication of taste testing. I suspect that I would love toenails, if they were sauteed in garlic
and butter. When in doubt,I favor spuds.
Chocolate Choices
I shall never die of cancer.
Dark Chocolate will finish me,
This self-destruction answer,
won't leave me deep in poverty.
I'll gladly let my waistline bulge,
and not stock my medicine shelf.
With Hershey treasures I'll indulge
and with kisses, embalm myself.
BEHIND THESE LINES:
Am I serious? I don't have cancer so I really don't know. People wark all their life acquiring
a retirement nest egg and small estate so their family will remember them kindly, and then see it all
vanish in an often fruitless but costly fight. Legal, prescription drugs for the cancer fighting regimen,
Doctors dangle, are more expensive than any of the easily available illicit drugs, like heroin and cocaine.
Maybe our government's war against drugs is misdirected. The excessively profitable pharmaceutical companies
have strong FDA protection from competition. These legal but pernicious drug peddlers also are the biggest
source of political funding for the presidential candidates. Quid pro quid?
