Doing My Own Thing

There are recondite nuances in the wind whose explications are willow heads. All this meaning nothing except that beauty is its own surmise, guess, circumference.

That word you almost said
Is as beautiful
As your lips,

Saying nothing,
Being precautionary,
Unintentionally secretive.

I love you like my prescription for lithium. You keep me in balance when the weights are falling off the shelves and the balloons are flying away with my First Editions.
All around me the flowers are attacking winter. I like a good snow. I like being cool. It's in the absence of color that I find the beauty of doing my own thing.

David Lawrence has published over four hundred poems. New book, Lane Changes is coming out in March by Four Way Books.
