In the Dark

I. It was a ritual of rearranging

   the bedroom furniture
The room was bigger and beige.
   so we left
   and went to the hotel
but then we decided not to stay.

II. I was in the bathtub

in the bathroom of the house
    I grew up in.
    My mom talked to me
while she sat on the floor
    Then he walked in.
    The other one
The one I only see briefly
    Mom wanted him to leave.
But I said, “No, we need to talk.”
And she left mad that I was naked
    Near him. Under the bubbles.
Then I threw raspberries at him and
he threw lemon lime soda cans at me.
    It’s because I kissed him
    Or kissed her.

III. The waiter was serving me breakfast.

As he put the food on the plate
he said, “You feel unworthy don’t you.”
     And I responded “yes.”

IV. I bled on really white underwear

And then had vampire movie dreams.

 V. He massaged my foot near family photos

      we had sex
      watching porno’s
      and then in the diner
we did not talk to each other
      but to the other customers
      I didn’t eat.

VI. Someone asked me questions in Italian

VII. I dyed my hair purple for the dinner party

He was mad at me because I only had cheap coffee.
I told him I got it as a gift.
So I went to store to buy something better
       And he left.
       We lived on Pearl St.
