Anna
There is something
cagey about her
even in her bewilderment
because she always
looks me in the eye
and asks what? What?
Not why or how,
but the simplest
nuts and bolts.
Enumeration jolts
and even as I list
the things that
filled the hours
she asks what? What?
As if
I am an imperfect
witness.
Don Schaeffer was born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1940. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from
City University of New York (1975). He established Enthalpy Press and has published 5 chap books including
