To Some Guy in Brooklyn

Fuck all subtlety, all careful rewriting and
editing - I need you
here, right now, long-distance tease, philanthropist
break me. Pull off your K-Mart ski mask
and teach me to scream in
Gaelic, Sanskrit, anything and everything
dead. Watch. Leave

the lights on. Film me
licking your bad dream off my lips
off your hands, dirty nails, your
cop's pride, your punishment,
the ultimate rod of correction
oh so much bigger
than my Daddy's ever was.

Holly Day's poetry, fiction, and nonfiction have most recently appeared in Canadian Woman Studies, Skyway News, and Ruah. She currently works as a reporter and a writing instructor in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and lives with her two children and husband. Her hobbies include skateboarding, crocheting, and trying to peaceably communicate with uncooperative vending machines.
