I Saw You

I saw you in a science magazine,
Remote and green
On some celestial stone,
And thought I‘d like to have you for my own.

I launched a little shuttle into space;
It had a place
For every kind of toy,
For books and music that you might enjoy,

And for one burning letter, to surprise
Your slanted eyes.
I set the shuttle free
In hopes that it would reach your galaxy.

I watched it disappear into the sky,
And time went by,
And so did rain and mist.
I still am not quite sure that you exist.
