Cadence
Days spool into each other,
clouds stew cross the sky
and cold inhibits
the birth of spring.
I'm lustful for the sun.
When her smile flames
colors rush along the horizon
and glide through the fields
in search of slivers of green.
Cheeks blow warm air
in fragile cadence
and brush across
my face feather soft
to sweep away winter.
My soul stretches
and sparks to life
as spring sails in
on warm currents
and I feel my spirit dance.
