Lightning Bugs

Remember seeing
lightning bugs as a child?
That first one, a glimmer upon the
humid, damp tar-black skies as
heavy as a washcloth over your eyes.
And then gone.
You catch a number, and although the light fades, the first one
will always burn the brightest in your memory
like the flash from a camera.

Or my memory of you.
