Rusting Wheels
Words appear in my head,
little miracles like drops of water.
I wish to gather the fragments
into speech but words fling
across space and vanish unheard,
whisper harsh and bitter in my throat.
Sadness rests heavy on my back.
Wheels grab and gather more rust.
Has my brain hardened or disintegrated,
I don’t know, my reality has its limitations.
I’m wintering inside my frozen mind
but I can still enjoy a piece of fudge.
The Glass Box
Hour after hour I sit mindless,
where are my glasses, where are…
Words have been snuffed out
without ceremony, spool in my
mouth and are lost.
My mind has lost contact with
my voice and fear of becoming
misplaced pierces my soul.
…ah, I don’t have shoes on because
I can’t remember where I put them.
Life fades slowly in this state,
just isolation in a glass box
and I remain only an imitation of life.
