Sway

At last you've arrived,
safely ashore from
those swirling currents
to my oft shown back.

I turn, then grin, for
your line has changed to
a stronger, yet more
delicate curving

like a bright lantern's
paper sphere grown
warm with a child's flame
- illuminated.

To this sun I now
revolve, a new Earth -
in your cradling arms,
a world gathers life;

and burden time can
surprise: I'll trust our
fortune, that a wind-
-blown lantern will sway

in the worst of storms
but merely return
to its place, return
with a dauntless glow.
