The Dry Hiss of the Pythoness

See me
through the branches.
Recognize
my spots as your own.
But do not follow them.
That path is not for you.
Too wild.
Too desired.
It cannot be cut.
By a knife.
Or a night.
Or a kiss.

No Mercy on a Stick

“I love you with a feeling of breaking apart”
             -- Molly Peacock

I am a touch-me-not.
A flower-like filament
of gold.
I am designed to betray.
Even your fingers
are filters.
I can easily slip through them.
Undetected.
I burn twice as bright
at night.
So you must try.
Again.
        Again.
                Again.

You are a predetermined failure.
You will drown
in your own blood.
And that is when I will descend.
Finally.
For one moment.
I will sin.
And touch you.
As my skin stoops
to eat
your eyes.
