I watched
a program
on TV
one Sunday
about
Joan Baez...
it stirred up a
lot of feelings
I hadn’t felt in
A long while
I tried to write
something immortal
about the ache
where my humanity
used to be
lost on one of
so many roads
so many adventures
those times we lived through
me in the stands
her in the game

but even now my
words fail me
nothing is left
but that ache
