Gemini Magazine
Gemini Magazine announces no-fee Short Short Story Contest, welcomes fiction/poetry/nonfiction submissions. Gemini Magazine is pleased to announce its NO-FEE Short Short Story Contest. Grand Prize is $100 and publication in the October issue of Gemini. Three (3) Honorable Mentions will also be published in the October issue.
Stories must be 1,000 words or less and may be written in any style or theme as long as they are previously unpublished. Deadline is August 31, 2009.

The Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Competition
The Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Competition is now open for submissions from poets around the world. Prize for single poem will have a first prize of 1,000 Euro and publication in Southword Literary Journal. The MLC will subvent travel costs for the winner up to 600 Euro and provide hotel accommodation and meals for three days during the Cork Spring Literary Festival. The author who takes first prize will have the chance to read the winning poem at the Cork Spring Literary Festival in February 2013. There will be a second prize of E500, third prize of E250, and ten runners-up will each have their poems published in Southword and receive Southword’s standard fee of E30. The deadline is 15 December 2012 and this year's judge is poet Thomas McCarthy. More information, including submission guidelines, may be found on our website. Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition
The Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition is now open to writers of the short story in English, of any nationality. First Prize: €2,000 (*approx $2,613.07 CAD), publication in the literary journal Southword, AND a week-long residency at Anam Cara Writer's and Artist's Retreat. Second Prize: €500 and publication in Southword. Four other shortlisted entries will be selected for publication in Southword and receive a publication fee of €120. CBC Literary Awards
The CBC Literary Awards competition is the only literary competition that celebrates original, unpublished works, in Canada’s two official languages. There are three categories—short story, poetry, and creative nonfiction—and $60,000 of prize money courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts.
