Opportunity

My step-father reaching down
to dislodge a spoon
stuck
in the garbage disposal;
me being close enough
to reach for the switch –

There Once Were Two Siblings

There once were two Siblings
who lived in a House
who could only Speak
in Pain.
“I love you”
came with a blade
“I need you”
with a fist
in the Face.
“I hate you” came
With some too hot chocolate
and “I hope you die”
came with nothing
at All.
