Associate Editors
Elecia Chrunik is a Vancouver-based writer who writes all kinds of things — news stories, short stories, to do lists… she enjoys the simpler things in life.
Jenn Harris is an editor, indexer and copywriter living with her wife in an old Guelph, Ontario house. By day she proofs and publishes material for a large co-operative, but in the evenings she can often be found scrutinizing a forthcoming political text, eating something vegan sourced from the farmer’s market or training for her next distance cycling trip.
Colleen Kimmett is a Vancouver-based journalist who writes about energy, the environment and sustainable cities. She is a regular contributor to the award-winning news website, TheTyee.ca, and her work has also appeared in publications such as Canadian Geographic and BC Business magazine. Colleen likes to spend her free time exploring the coastal forests of B.C. and is currently writing a book about the sasquatches that may or may not live there.
Tyler McCreary is bookish by nature and is into his third decade in school, now completing a PhD in Geography at York University. His primary interests, both academic and activist, are in working to build respectful relationships between Indigenous and settler communities in Canada.
Copy Editors
Calvin Neufeld‘s bio is still being written.
Alethea Spiridon is a freelance editor and writer based in southern Ontario. If she had enough money, she’d buy everyone a copy of Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style. She can be reached through her website.
Carmelle Wolfson is a print, online and broadcast journalist and an editor at The Daily Nuisance, who has helped to organize Media Democracy Day in Toronto. She has reported on colonial, feminist, human rights, student and labour issues from Canada, Kenya, Denmark, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Her work can be found here.
Proofreader
Kim Kovacs is a /Canadian-Oxford-Dictionary-/toting, red-pen-wielding, grammar-policing bibliophile who moonlights as a nitpicker (i.e. proofreader) on the Volunteer Brigade at /Briarpatch/. She is based in Regina, Treaty 4 Territory.
Board of Directors
Briarpatch is overseen by a dedicated and delightful volunteer Board of Directors. Each member is indispensable in guiding the magazine through patches of rough sea and ensuring that the ship is sailing in the right direction.
