         YORK UNIVERSITY:  POSITION IN GREEK HISTORY & CLASSICS



      Applications are invited for a contractually-limited appointment at

the rank of Assistant Professor in Ancient Greek History and Classics, to

commence 1 July 1995 for a period of one year. Qualifications include a

completed Ph.D, teaching experience and an ongoing programme of research in

the area of Ancient Greek History. Preference will be given to candidates

who specialize in the area of social history. 



      The successful candidate will be expected to teach an upper level

course in the history of ancient Athens, as well as language courses in

Classical Greek and Latin. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and

experience. The position is subject to budgetary approval.
