MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND--NEW MA PROGRAMME



The Department of Classics at Memorial University of Newfoundland has very

recently been given Senate approval to offer the M.A. degree in Classics,

beginning in Fall 1995.  The M.A. is a two-year degree, requiring the

completion of coursework (four graduate courses) and a thesis.  Areas of

specialization are Greek and Roman history, Greek and Latin literature, and

ancient thought.  Applicants must have a knowledge of both Greek and Latin

and should have completed at least nine single-semester courses in one

language and six in the other.  Financial assistance is available in the

form of fellowships and graduate assistantships.
