TRENT UNIVERSITY

The Department of Ancient History and Classics invites applications for a

9-month or 8-month limited term appointment at the rank of Lecturer or

Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and teaching experience,

to commence on 1 September 1995. The successful candidate will be a

generalist with a strong interest in Greek studies who will most likely be

expected to teach a course in Greek drama in translation, a course in

introductory Greek, a pair of half-courses in archaeology and art history

(one concentrating on the archaeology of ancient religion, and one an

introduction to classical archaeology), and, possibly, be asked to help out

in related areas of the departmental teaching programme.

Applicants, who should demonstrate both good teaching ability and potential

as scholars, should have the Ph.D. or be very near completion. Applications

should be sent to Professor K.H. Kinzl, Chair, Department of Ancient

History and Classics, Trent University, Peterborough, ON K9J 7B8 (fax

(705) 748-1721; enquiries: e-mail kkinzl@trentu.ca), and should include the

names of three referees whom we may contact; dossiers would be helpful in

accelerating the process of selection.

The deadline for applications is 12 July 1995.

In accordance with the Canadian Immigration requirements, this notice is

directed to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Trent University is

an Employment Equity Employer and especially invites candidacies from

women, aboriginal peoples, visible minorities and disabled persons.
