If both years are approved, the appointment will run from 1 September 1996 to 30 April 1998. It is possible that there will be a second, part-time appointment, as well, also perhaps of two year's duration. The individual(s) hired will be expected to teach, in particular, courses in Roman history and society, Classical Civilization, and Latin language and literature, but other topics might be arranged according to training and experience. Interested individuals should send a letter of outlining his or her teaching and research interests, a curriculum vitae, and names of references to Prof. J.P. Oleson, Chair, Department of Classics, by 25 March, 1996. Applicants should indicate whether they would prefer a full-time or part-time position.
