SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY - The Hellenic Canadian Congress of British

Columbia Chair in Hellenic Studies. Simon Fraser University seeks to

appoint a Professor of Hellenic Studies who will hold an appointment

endowed by the Hellenic Canadian Congress of British Columbia.  The

successful candidate will be expected to develop, from the resources

available at Simon Fraser University, an integrated curriculum in Hellenic

Studies, to pursue a personal research program in some aspect of ancient or

modern Hellenic Studies, to develop links with British Columbia's Greek

Canadian community, and to participate actively in the governance of the

University, and in its cultural life.  Rank and salary are open, and

persons from any discipline may apply.  Fluency in the Greek language and a

expert knowledge of Greek culture (ancient or modern) are prerequisites. 

The successful candidate will be appointed to a department appropriate to

his or her academic discipline.  Tenure may be granted to a senior scholar

upon appointment.  If a junior candidate is successful, a contractual

limited appointment will be made prior to consideration for tenure.  In

accordance with Canadian immigration requirements this advertisement is

directed to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.  Simon Fraser
