[1] BROCK UNIVERSITY



The Department of Classics at Brock University invites applications for

a 9-month limited-term appointment (for the 1997-1998 academic session),

subject to budgetary approval. Applicants should possess the Ph.D. with

specialization in Latin Language & Literature or Roman Studies, and have

demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate Classics courses. The

individual hired will be expected to teach courses in Beginning Latin,

Advanced Latin, Greek mythology, an advanced seminar in Greek or Roman

social or cultural history or literature, plus one further course from

the following: Women in the ancient world; History of the Roman

Republic; Greek & Roman comedy and satire.



It is possible that there will be further part-time appointments of

instructors in: Greek mythology, Greek civilization, Greek archaeology,

Roman history, Intermediate Latin, The Art and archaeology of Cyprus,

The Ancient Near East, The Origins of human culture.



All applicants for the 9-month appointment will be automatically

considered for the part-time appointments unless they indicate

otherwise.

Lecturer, whose primary responsibility will be instruction in elementary

and intermediate Latin, for the 1997-98 academic year. One-year

appointment, with possibility of renewal. M.A. degree required, Ph.D.
