Temporary Lectureship in Latin



Applications are invited for a Temporary Lectureship (Lecturer A) in the

School of Greek, Latin and Ancient History from 1 September 1998 to 31

January 2001. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the teaching

of Latin language and literature across a broad range and at every level,

and to contribute significantly to the School=92s research output.



The salary will be at an appropriate point on the Lecturer Grade A salary

scale, =A316,045 - =A321,016 per annum.

LECTURER IN CLASSICAL LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE



Initial salary within the range GBP 16,366 - GBP 28,545 pa



The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the School's

research profile, to the development of the MA programmes in Classics

and in Hellenistic Studies, and to be ready to teach Greek Literature,

especially Homer and the Tragedians, at various levels (both in Greek

and in translation), Greek language at all levels including elementary,

and if possible, some Latin language and literary topics. Knowledge of

ancient philosophy might be advantageous. The post is available from 1

September 1998.
